Bear Valley 4-9-2017
On April 9, 2017 I decided to go to Bear Valley to see how the flowers were, given all the "super bloom" descriptions coming out of Southern California. On the way into Bear Valley I found a lot of pretty pink "fuzzy" trees by the creek. (Some day I need to learn what these trees/bushes are. They remind me of something that should be found in Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax.") I also found one nice field of tiny yellow flowers leading to some oak trees.
In Bear Valley itself, most of the fields had flowers but not solid carpets. You could find photos if you looked carefully, but you had to work at it. The one possible exception was at the Ranch near the north end of the valley, where I found a field of Tidy Tips blooming with horses and bulls wandering around. Interestingly this field includes a gate for people to go through to get to the flowers. Presumably it is somewhat safe if the rancher put it there, but I had no desire to go through and meet the bulls up close, so all my shots were from the outside of the fence.
