Oct. 3, 2015 - Woodbridge Ecological Reserve (aka Isenberg Crane Reserve)
On October 3, 2015 I went with my family on a Crane Tour at the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve (also known as the Isenberg Crane Reserve). While there is a wide variety of birds to be seen, the highlight is the great quantity of Sandhill Cranes coming in about sundown. The docents are supposed to count how many cranes come in, but there were so many they gave up. (The lowest estimate I heard was 1,000 cranes.) Something the photos don't capture is the sound: I find the sound of hundreds of Cranes calling quite captivating. The tours are free (although donations are appreciated), so if you're interested I'd encourage you to go visit for yourself: https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Lands/Places-to-Visit/Woodbridge-ER
