Sandhill Cranes, Oct. 2009
On 10/4/2009, Lynda and I went to the Isenberg Sandhill Crane Reserve (near Lodi) to see the Sandhill Cranes coming in. Since then the common name seems to have changed to the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve. You can learn more about it here: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/delta/cranetour/
Sandhill cranes are quite large, with wingspans that can reach 7 feet. The evening we visited had nice weather with enough clouds for sunset colors. I didn't count when we were there, but someone said 700 cranes landed the previous evening.
