Grand Canyon Gallery

We took a vacation to the Grand Canyon in 2011, visiting both the South Rim and the North Rim. We were there during thunder storm season, and went well over a week without having a day without rain. While this wasn't ideal for hiking, it did provide the opportunities for some fantastic photography.

  • Sun rays coming through the clouds into the smoky canyon near sunset. (9/5/2011, Lipan Point, South Rim, Grand Canyon)

  • I don't know that I have ever seen a phenomenon quite like this before. We had an orange sunset, but apparently<br /> some clouds were positioned just right to block the orange in a particular place, creating a "V" where the orange<br /> was missing.
