It is common to see large polypores (members of the mushroom family) growing in the moist forests of Washington state. These bright-orange polypores and the green moss next to them are growing on a large log that used to be trail bridge crossing a creek. Some of the larger polypores on this log were at least 6 inches across. (9/1/2012, Baker River Trail, North Cascades National Park Service Complex)
