Death Valley 2013 - Day 3 - Charcoal Kilns, Mesquite Dunes

Our main destinations on day 3 of our trip to Death Valley started with a visit to the charcoal kilns at Wildrose Canyon (these 25-foot-high kilns were used to make charcoal back in the 1800s), followed by a trip to the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes near Stove Pipe Wells for an end-of-day shoot with the late sunlight across the textured sand.

The night skies are fantastic in the desert, so I took several night shots under the moonlight that evening back at our campground.
